Chef Pieter Van Meenen had a passion for cooking from a very young age. At the age of 40, he made the leap from the corporate world to pursue his dream career as a chef. After 18 years of managing food operations, seafood and import stores, retail grocery, and a chain of high-end cafes, Pieter enrolled in the Dubrulle International Culinary Restaurant Ownership Chef program at The Art Institute in Vancouver. He proudly graduated with honours on the Dean’s List.

From there, Pieter’s career took off – from a position at the 5-Diamond-rated Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver, to winning gold at the Best of the West culinary competition, to competing on Chopped Canada. He is currently the Executive Chef at the Giggle Dam Dinner Theatre in Port Coquitlam where he develops creative, themed menus.

Chef Pieter’s artisanal dips are freshly crafted by hand, packed full of flavour, and made with love. He sources the finest, sustainable, local ingredients – only those he feeds to his own family. He also focuses on creating products to suit all dietary needs and preferences including gluten free, dairy free, vegan, and raw vegan.

Pieter met his wife, Nathalie, thanks to their mutual love of food. While attending a holiday event at the Sutton Place Hotel, Nathalie and Pieter encountered one another for the first time as he was delicately preparing fresh crêpes for a dessert buffet. They felt an instant connection; Nathalie left her number with a staff member, addressed to “The Crêpe Chef,” and the rest is history. They live a happy life in Langley with their three wonderful kids.
